A truly unique and special vessel. Touched by the smoke and flame, this wheel thrown vessel was fired in an open-air sawdust and wood kiln with a combination of organic materials and metals that flash and fume creating the beautiful coloring and dramatic surface. Pulled hot from the fire, I singe the piece with horsehair which imprints its carbon trails.

pit fired pieces are decorative and do not hold water. if you would like to use for floral arrangements I often recommend sitting a glass jar inside.
