Touched by the smoke and flame, this one-of-a-kind hand built vessel was fired in an open-air sawdust and wood kiln with a combination of organic materials and metals that flash and fume creating the beautiful coloring and dramatic surface and celestial and floral markings. The volatile process can result in small cracks or fissures, which are then healed with gold to preserve and repair the piece making it stronger using a technique known as kintsugi.
